No, all Fishing Rods are not created equal. Any seasoned fisherman will tell you so and perhaps sit you down for a lecture on the different sorts of Fishing Reels and rods designed for as many types of fishing expeditions. Yes, there are just about as many poles are there are game fish in the sea which makes it easier to catch the sort of fish you seek. If you are looking for a one-size-fits-all sort of rod, odds are you have not been fishing much. But that is alright, everyone has to learn sometime. So read on to discover a few common types that will land you a few common types of game fish.
Bass fishermen use the aptly-named bass rod for both the saltwater and freshwater varieties of the popular game fish. Sport surrounding bass is so widely practiced that there are a number of tournaments supporting this type of fishing; they are held in rivers and lakes annually. Winners are those who bring in the biggest fish, and likely the best story of the day’s catch as well. These fish are wily opponents and can put up a fierce fight which is why they are so sought after by adventure-seeking fishermen types.
A bass fishing rod can take a lot of abuse because it is designed to capture a fish that intends to abuse it. Because there may be quite a length of time between when you hook the bass and when you finally pull the fish aboard your vessel, the pole is going to be pulled in every imaginable direction as the fish struggles to get away. And because these fish vary quite a bit in size, the poles utilized to catch them do the same. But what these poles all have in common is that they are durable and entirely flexible. They are often made from fiberglass, which is more flexible than graphite but not as strong.
A Trout Fishing rod will get you; you guessed it, various forms of trout. These are not nearly as flexible as bass poles. Even the larger versions of trout tend to be lighter than the hefty bass, and trout tend to put up less of a fight than the cunning bass. That said; trout fishing can still provide a great deal of fun. Fishermen turn out in large numbers to take part in the sporting hunt for trout in streams, rivers and lakes. Poles used to catch these fish are usually between 7 and 10 feet long; a 9 foot pole is your best bet for both fishing beside a stream and from a boat on a lake.
Another commonly used pole is the crappie rod. These vary in length to suit individual preference, but they absolutely must remain lightweight. An essential part of crappie fishing is jigging, or snapping the pole up and down in a quick movement to lure fish to the bait. A pole that is not light enough will not be up to this activity or will tire your arm faster than you can catch a fish. A lightweight pole is perfect for crappies in another sense as well: these fish tend to be pretty small and can do no harm to this rod.
Stewart Wrighter purchased a couple offishing rods online from a reputable outlet for a trip he and his family were taking out west. He orderedfishing reels to go with the rods he recently purchased.
