The out sole of your boots should be deep and flexible so that your foot stays in place while walking on uneven, rocky terrain. You need to find hunting boots that dig into the dirt and which offers a tread design that gives you great traction and footing on slippery ground.

Choose hunting boots based on the type of hunting you do. Will you be wearing them more for walking or for standing in a blind? Is the ground you hunt on rocky, muddy or sandy? Take time to choose good quality boots that are designed for the type of hunting you do so your boots are not the reason you have to leave the woods and go home.

Now on to mens hiking boots and mountain boots. First and foremost, if you are heading into the mountains you need to choose boots that are high-cut. They have to be water-proof and have plenty of extra room inside for toe movement but not movement in the heel area. A good pair of mens hiking boots will have top quality liners inside featuring Gore Tex. The uppers can be made of leather or a synthetic material. The important thing is that the uppers should breathe to keep your feet at a comfortable temperature. You should choose mountain boots that have good arch support as well because you will be hiking on very uneven terrain.

When choosing hunting boots or boots designed for hiking and mountaineering, do not pay too much attention to the sizes. The size of your boots will most likely be different from the size you normally wear in leisure or fashion shoes. Instead focus on the feeling the boots give you. Stay away from the ‘no brands’ or unknown brands. These boots may seem like a bargain but spend a few hours in them out in the wilderness and you will find out the hard way why they were priced so cheaply. Look at buying your outdoor boots as an investment. If you buy the correct pair, they should serve you well for many years and will do a great job keeping your feet dry and comfortable while you are doing what you love.
